About Cory
Joining the team in 2024, Cory brings extensive expertise in smoke control and life safety systems to Rigsbee Engineering. With over five years of experience, Cory has developed and implemented comprehensive solutions in fire alarm design, egress analysis, and both passive and active smoke control systems. He has also contributed to high-piled storage consulting, working within the framework of the Unified Facilities Code. Cory's knowledge extends across a diverse portfolio of projects, including residential, mixed-use, office, and laboratory high-rises, where his performance-based designs ensure optimal safety and compliance.
Before joining Rigsbee Engineering, Cory served as a Fire Protection Engineer at Jensen Hughes, where he gained extensive experience working on high-rise buildings, tenant improvements, and underground facilities. His expertise in advanced modeling tools, such as Pathfinder for egress analysis and CFAST and CONTAM for smoke control tenability studies, allowed him to deliver innovative solutions tailored to stringent safety requirements in the City of San Diego. His ability to craft detailed Smoke Control Rational Analysis Reports has been instrumental in securing approvals for a wide range of projects.

Cory earned his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), and is now completing his master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
